GREG SMITH ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT
Greg Smith will retire from CPRD effective July 27th. He has been with CPRD from the very first day it changed from a company run park & recreation department formerly known as CARPA. This would mark just about 20 years with the park district. Previously Greg was with CARPA for approximately 8 years. Last year he was honored by the Montana Recreation and Park Association as “Professional of the Year” and had also received a special recognition from his alma mater Eastern Montana College now known as Montana State University-Billings as an outstanding alumnus. He has also been responsible for many programs that were recognized including our chapter of the National Youth Sports Coaches Association (NYSCA) and the Hershey Youth track program as well as many other achievements.
Greg plans to move back to his hometown of Billings and go back to school and pursue a second career in counseling. After 20 years it would be an understatement to say that he will be missed. We wish him the best in his new endeavor. The biggest crisis facing his departure is the loss of his alter ego the “Cookie Monster”. Any children that spent much time at the community center certainly visited the cookie monster on many occasions. We will work hard to find an able body to fill that role.
Thanks for your many years of service and best of luck on the next chapter of your life.
