CPRD COMMENTS June 21, 2007
MONTANA HERSHEY GAMES STATE MEET
We had well over 250 athletes from across the state of Montana ages 9-14
competing in the Hershey Games Montana State Track & Field meet. We had some
fantastic performances at the meet. The athletes, parents and track meet
personnel were treated to a free barbecue and waterslide party on Friday
evening...
Rosebud IGA was very generous in donating the hamburgers, hot dogs
and polish sausage that were served at the barbecue. Many of the meet
participants and chaperones stayed in the community center and others camped out
in Rye Park.
Thanks to the great volunteers and good organizational skills of the CPRD staff,
the meet began at 10:00 AM and concluded at about 2:30 PM. That was the fastest
meet we have ever conducted, about an hour improvement.

We would like to thank Rosebud IGA for their donation for the Friday night
barbecue and also June’s Bungalow, Subway, Mulligans and Pepsi for their donated
food and drinks for the meet workers. Special thanks go to the Colstrip Public
Schools for their cooperation and hospitality for this state meet, including
complete use of the high school track and related equipment and buildings.
The meet wouldn’t have been possible if not for all the volunteers that gave up
their time to make the meet successful. We couldn’t have done it without them
The overall feeling from the many visitors was very positive and they were all
impressed with how well things went and were very grateful for the friendly
community that really rolled out the red carpet for them.
At least five athletes who win their event will qualify to represent Montana in
the Hershey North American Finals August 2nd -5th in Hershey, Pennsylvania. This
trip is an all expense paid trip for those athletes accompanied by chaperones
from the Billings airport to Hershey, PA and back.
DID YOU KNOW
If a statue in the park of a person on a horse has both front legs in the air,
the person died in battle. If the horse has one front leg in the air the person
died as a result of wounds received in battle. If the horse has all four legs on
the ground, the person died of natural causes.
QUOTE OF THE WEEK
“Everyone should have kids. They are the greatest joy in the world. But they are
also terrorists. You'll realize this as soon as they are born, and they start
using sleep deprivation to break you.” -- Ray Romano
