CPRD COMMENTS November 29, 2007

NEW SATURDAY COMMUNITY CENTER HOURS CREATES MORE USAGE
On November 10th the community center hours changed hours from noon-6:00 PM to 8:00 AM-2:00 PM has resulted in
a noticeable increase in usage. There are usually individuals ready to work out at 8:00 AM and it stays reasonably busy
until closing. The use has more than doubled than from the previous hours. It was a good move as it is serving more of
our citizens in a more useful way. We are grateful for the citizen input that led to the change.

FIREMAN’S PARK TO HOST CHRISTMAS LIGHTING CEREMNONY
This Sunday at Fireman’s Park the Colstrip Volunteer Fire Department in partnership with the Colstrip Chamber of
Commerce will turn on the Christmas lights display. Santa is expected to be on hand for the ceremony to flip the switch
to turn on all the beautiful lights the firemen put up each year in the park. There will be hot beverages and snacks
served by the Studio 2B Girl Scouts. The lighting ceremony is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
If Santa can break away from his busy schedule he will stick around and greet the children after the lighting ceremony.
Firemen’s Park is located along Cherry Street and Willow Avenue. Just on your right hand side as you make the turn to
head to the post office.

DID YOU KNOW?
Silent Night was written in 1818, by an Austrian priest Joseph Mohr. He was told the day before Christmas that the
church organ was broken and would not be prepared in time for Christmas Eve. He was saddened by this and could not
think of Christmas without music, so he wanted to write a carol that could be sung by choir to guitar music. He sat down
and wrote three stanzas. Later that night the people in the little Austrian Church sang "Stille Nacht" for the first time.

QUOTE OF THE DAY
“What is Christmas? It is tenderness for the past, courage for the present, hope for the future. It is a fervent wish that every cup may overflow with blessings rich and eternal, and that every path may lead to peace.” - Agnes M. Pharo
