Runs and Races

Speed Freaks - CPRD Running Club
This is an opportunity for runners 12 years to 18 years, to develop their funning skills fro track season and other competitive events such as: Road Races, Hershey's Track, Big Sky State Games, A.A.U., Simplot Games, USA track meets, and fun runs.  A trip for the high school age to the Simplot Games in Pocatello, Idaho and a couple of team trips to road races are planned.  Members of this club will be trained by Duane Cole.  He will develop individual training schedules.  Fees for this class will be used to pay for traveling expenses and instructor's fee.  Class limited to 20 individuals.
Instructor: Duane Cole
Cost for Individual: $15 per month, or $30 per session;
                           Family of 2 -$45; Family of 3 - $50

We are the Prairie-Chix; a newly formed running club in Colstrip Montana. Our desire is to promote mental and physical health through exercise and fun! We enjoy the common bond of faith, family, friendship, and the love of life.

Castle Rock Challenge
July 24 @ High Noon Castle Rock Lake Colstrip, MT
5K Obstacle Course Challenge $25 reg. due July 10 (to be guaranteed t-shirt)
Must be 13 or older to participate $30 race day reg. (9 am - 11 am @ Castle Rock Lake)

Are you a Warrior?
Come and take the Castle Rock Challenge! It's a 5k course around Castle Rock Lake with a variety of obstacles and challenges. Get ready to get wet and muddy! Run, jump, belly crawl, climb. Having FUN is a must and costumes are encouraged! Prizes awarded to best male/female costumes and first place male/female finishers in each age group: teen 13 - 19 , open 20 - 45, and masters 46 & up. Stay and Play after the race with a post-race BBQ ($10/person, $5 8 & under) and brew tasting by our local brew meisters.  Plan to spend the day and take advantage of our excellent fishing access for walleye, bass, northern, and easy to catch blue gills for the kids! Check out our 30+ parks, miles of bike paths, golf course, and waterslide at the city pool. A Colstrip Parks & Rec. event sponsored by The Prairie Chix.

Sweetheart Run – held in February close to Valentine’s Day
A different way to have fun while competing in a race.  This run requires that you have a partner of the opposite sex.  Your combined time determines your place in the race results.  There are three divisions:  Nineteen and Under, Open and Masters (over 40).  This race is followed with a pot-luck lunch.  T-shirts are included with registration and prizes are awarded.  Contact CPRD for race date, time and fees.

Fun Run – held June 27th in conjunction with Colstrip Days
The Colstrip days CPRD Fun Run will be held on Saturday, June 27th, 2009.  This is a 5k race or for the kids, a 1 Mile Children's Fun Run will be outside.  Walk, run, or just set your own pace.  It's a great way to start the day!  Contact Becky Ballew at CPRD (748-3326 ext.121) for more information.

36th Annual Spoil-A-Thon – August 7th, 2010
This is the oldest running triathlon west of the Mississippi.  Contestants can enter as individuals or teams.  The event consists of 3 miles of biking, e miles of running, and a 100 yard shallow swim!  Come take part in this exciting competition!
Race Registration:  8:00 a.m. at the CPRD Community Center
Race Starts: 9:00 a.m.
Cost: $15.00 per person

Turkey Trot – held in early November
Hey all you turkeys come and strut your stuff at the 28th Annual Turkey Trot!  The race will take place on Saturday, November 7th snow or shine. This 4.5 mile race takes place on the bike trails of Colstrip.  There are two ways to win a turkey:
1.     Come closest to predicting the time it will take you to finish the course.
2.     Be the first person in your division to cross the finish line.

Registration begins at 10:00 a.m. at CPRD
Race Time: 11:00 a.m.
Cost: $15 with T-shirt; $5.00 with no T-shirt
